FAQLender-first platform

Questions, answered.

Accorda makes peer-to-peer lending feel clear and professional — without turning you into a bank. Here's what you need to know.

Payments

Payments happen in your payment app (Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, etc.). Accorda tracks status and history — we don't process funds.

Not a bank

Accorda does not lend money, hold funds, or make underwriting decisions. You choose the borrower and terms.

Documentation

Accorda creates clarity around terms and schedule. Laws vary — for high-stakes situations, consult a legal professional.

Getting started
What Accorda is (and isn't).
Is Accorda a bank or lender?
+
No. Accorda doesn't lend money, hold funds, or transmit payments. We're a documentation and tracking platform for private loans you already choose to make.
Who decides the loan terms?
+
You do. The lender sets principal, interest (if any), schedule, and start date. Accorda formats it into a clean, shared record.
Do you run credit checks?
+
No. Accorda does not run credit checks or make lending decisions. You decide who to lend to and on what terms.
Is Accorda for lenders, borrowers, or both?
+
Both — but the experience is lender-first. Lenders create and manage loans; borrowers get a clean portal view of what's due and what's been paid.
Payments & tracking
How money moves (outside the app) and how tracking works (inside the app).
How do payments work?
+
Payments happen outside Accorda using whatever method you agree on — Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, bank transfer, cash, check. Accorda generates the schedule and lets you record when payments are completed.
Can Accorda automatically charge the borrower?
+
No. We intentionally keep payments in the apps you already use. Accorda focuses on clarity: schedule, due dates, status, and history.
Do you send payment reminders?
+
Reminders are supported and will continue to expand. The goal is neutral, consistent nudges around due dates — so you don't have to be the bad guy.
What payment status options exist?
+
Status is designed to be simple and clear: Upcoming, Due Soon, Late, Paid. The lender records payments, and the borrower can always see the same history.
What if a borrower pays late or partially?
+
You can record what happened and keep the timeline clear. The goal stays the same: reduce ambiguity and keep records clean.
What does "Pay via Venmo" mean?
+
It means Accorda can help share a payment prompt so the borrower can pay in their preferred app. Accorda does not process the payment — it helps reduce friction when it's time to pay.
Important

Accorda does not process payments or provide escrow. You and the borrower agree on the method and complete payments directly in your chosen app.

Pricing & credits
Pay for actions, not for logging in.
Is Accorda free?
+
Yes — loans under $500 are completely free. For larger loans, you use credits (1 credit per loan offer sent). Subscription plans include monthly credits.
What are the subscription plans?
+
Free — loans under $500 at no cost. Pro ($29/mo) — 10 credits/month. Business ($75/mo) — 75 credits/month with team features. You can also buy credits individually without a subscription.
Do borrowers ever pay?
+
No. Borrowers are never charged by Accorda. Pricing is designed for the lender, since the lender manages the loan.
Do credits expire?
+
Credits do not expire. If that ever changes, it will be clearly disclosed up front.
Are credits refundable?
+
Typically no — credits represent access to actions. If you have an edge case (duplicate purchase, error), support can help review it.
Will you auto-renew charges?
+
Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled anytime from your settings. Credit purchases are one-time. Everything is clearly shown before you opt in.
Borrower access & portal
Shared truth reduces conflict.
Can borrowers see their loan details?
+
Yes. If you give them portal access, borrowers can view the terms, upcoming payments, due dates, and payment history through a clean portal.
Do borrowers need an account?
+
Not necessarily. You can manage loans with or without giving borrowers portal access. When invited, they sign up with just an email — low friction.
Can borrowers edit the loan terms?
+
No — the lender manages terms. Borrowers can view and reference the same schedule and history so there's no confusion.
Is borrower portal access required?
+
No. You choose per loan whether to give the borrower portal access. Some lenders prefer to manage everything themselves.
What if we renegotiate terms?
+
Updates should be documented clearly to prevent disputes. The goal is always: one shared truth between both parties.
Does the borrower need to download an app?
+
No. The borrower portal works in any browser — desktop or mobile. No app download needed.
Security, privacy & records
What we store, what we don't.
Do you store bank credentials?
+
No. Accorda does not ask for bank logins. Payments happen in your chosen payment app and are not processed by Accorda.
Do you store card details?
+
No. Card details for credit purchases are handled entirely by Stripe. Accorda never sees or stores your card information.
Is my data secure?
+
Yes. Accorda uses Supabase (built on PostgreSQL) with row-level security, encrypted connections, and Stripe for payments. Your data is isolated and protected.
Can I export loan history?
+
PDF agreement generation is available for all loans. CSV exports and advanced reporting are available on higher-tier plans.
Is the agreement legally binding?
+
Accorda helps document terms and create a consistent record, but enforceability depends on your jurisdiction and the specifics of the agreement. For high-stakes lending, consult a lawyer.
Can I delete my account and data?
+
Yes. Contact support and we'll process your request. We don't hold your data hostage.
